This paper aimed to establish the relationship between land-use and changes in agricultural mode in Zhonglianchuan of semi arid region of Loess plateau. A study was made on a selected part of this region using the main means of land-use. The combined use of geographic information system (GIS) and Markov Probability provide better understanding on land-use change information on transformations of land-use pattern, which revealed obvious differences of spatial distributing pattern. Total Factor Production was established by studying the relationship between changes in agricultural mode and agricultural out put on the basis of agricultural production model.Various researches showed that the road was developed. Many uncropped location was reclaimed and farmland increased to improve total output of grain.The area of grassland decreased and most of them were changed into farmland , but environment was destructed.The area of shrubs was increased from 88.24 ha in 1997 to 298.29 ha in 2003. Thus, shrubs have been strongly established. Thus, the reverting farmland to forests and grassland project in Zhonglianchuan had exerted environmentally benefit effects. The change of land types occurred from 1975 to 1997 was few than from 1997 to 2003. The prediction of 2019 to 2041 from all kinds of land-use changes during 1975 to 1997, and the prediction of 2009 to 2015 from all kinds of land-use changes during 1997 to 2003, showed that the changes of all types of land trends will become uniform and stable. The area of shrubs was increased very much, which is associated with reverting farmland to forests and grassland project. Slope lands and drought farmlands will not be increased again and may tend towards stabilization.Total Factor Production showed that the agricultural production is mostly related to technology in the period of 1991 to 2005 in Zhonglianchuan. Fertilizers application and other techniques have been the main stimulation measure. The livestock had not been included in agricultural mode because the agricultural production did not depend on livestock. Population pressure has been increased and land-use rate has been dropped continuously. The units land-use agricultural output had been increased from 1991 to 2005.Agricultural production structure showed that a adjustment of agricultural structure by plating grass and raising livestock and development of agricultural economic , and the same time compromise environment.
