The development situation of equipment manufacturing industry reflects a country's economic competitiveness and technological strength. Facing the fierce international competition, how to develop China equipment manufacturing industry is an urgent need to address the problem. Therefore this paper choose "equipment manufacturing industry" as the target of study, based on the total factor productivity, technical efficiency perspective, together with industry economics, technology economics theory and econometric modeling methods was used to make a theoretical analysis and empirical analysis about the main factors that affect equipment manufacturing industry total factor productivity and its growth. Through the study, we can understand Chinese equipment manufacturing industry,s TFP situation, reveal the main factors cause total factor productivity. According to the results, put forward corresponding policy recommendations about the development of the equipment manufacturing industry has important significance. This article mainly include the following respects:First, in-depth analysis of the academia relevant equipment manufacturing industry total factor productivity of many studies, summarized their research method in this paper. The creative thoughts have many applications and conducted the corresponding extensions. To the present situation of the equipment manufacturing industry also did meticulous analysis, discussed from the industry characteristics, industry faces problems and development advantage thoroughly. According to above research has identified the research idea of the article.Second, set up a total factor productivity and equipment manufacturing industry development theory analysis framework. On the analysis of the connotation of the equipment manufacturing industry base, constructs a theory that about the TFP through ascension technical efficiency and technological progress efficiency. And expounds that we can promote some external factors to boost the technical efficiency, and we could clear the technical efficiency in the equipment manufacturing industry production process and how to give assistance to go on the cycle development about the equipment manufacturing industry.Third, the evaluation of China equipment manufacturing industry total factor productivity. First of all, based on the data envelopment method, we use panel data of China equipment manufacturing industry to process empirical measuring TFP and to analyse the level of industries. Secondly, from the angle of total factor productivity, to break them down into technical efficiency and technological progress efficiency, observe and analyzing the change trend and difference. Finally, through the trend we draw a conclusion: technical efficiency is low, the contribution of technological progress efficiency is the main factors of promoting the TFP about equipment manufacturing industry. So in order to promote total factor productivity enhancement, we must improve the technical efficiency.Fourth, the analysis of the TFP factors. For historical literature review and equipment manufacturing industry, based on the characteristics of equipment manufacturing industry, proposed and analyzed the great six factors that affects the TFP: ownership factors, scale effect, market structure, technical innovation ability, independent innovation ability and the technological funds digestion and absorption ability. Then from empirically angle, selected corresponding index to these factors, use the panel data model and the fixed effect random effects model to test the effects and direction from industries angle. Based on the above analysis, using economics theory tools to put forward the ascension of the TFP on equipment manufacturing industry in China.
