In 1998, Mr. Kirk WM Tyson pointed out that the development of human society will be from the industrial age through the information age to the Intelligence Age. General Sun said "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle." Business is as fierce as war, if Chinese companies want to win more in business world, they must make investment on competitive intelligence.Competitive Intelligence (CI) is like human resources, materials and finance, it is not only the company's assets, but also a strategic weapon to maintain the competitive advantage. In the general work procedure of competitive intelligence, information collection is the most time-consuming and resource consuming step. At this stage the point is to address the information source and then get it.The first chapter of this paper indicates the background and the importance of CI as well as current research of this industry. In the second chapter, the definition of the research object has been made and illustrated. The third chapter stated all the methods of getting CI and made comparison of the methods. In the fourth chapter, there are two real cases the author experienced; there are reasons of how they chose the CI information source and how they use them as the solutions. And in the last chapters, there are conclusions and suggestions to Chinese corporate in CI applications. This paper points out that make full use of existing information database is a good choice to collect CI. Hope this can help to improve the overall competitiveness of Chinese enterprises to achieve the establishment of effective strategic model, to enhance the core competitiveness of enterprises.
