karst rocky desertification area in southwest China is one ofthe five recognized ecological environment fragile area, Thecrushing surface, Steep terrain, large bare rock area, inadequatewater resources formed a bad habitat, together with heavypopulation burden,unreasonable reclamation exacerbate the soilerosion and stony desertification, and causing the social andeconomic development lag behind.Ecosystem Health Assessment inkarst rocky desertification area is to make a comprehensiveecological evaluation by analysis of regional characteristics andengineering of rocky desertification treatment in this area. It hasan important theoretical value and practical significance inimproving ecological capacity and stability and realize thesustainable development.we make a detailed analysis about the fragility of karst rockydesertification comprehensive control region combined with thedata availability, Build a karst ecosystem health evaluation system,By means of RS and GIS to make data collection, numerical simulationand space information extraction, Construct evaluation model andmake a quantitative evaluation for ecosystem health for karst rockydesertification area,then, discusses how do the implementations of typical rocky desertification prevention and control projecteseffect the ecosystem health, results as follow(1)According to The study and analysis about the existingtheory, connotation of ecosystem health and the own characteristicsof the study area, we find that the ecosystem health in karst areais depended on two aspects: natural environment and humanintervention and it is reflected by five degrees: ill-condition,not health, sub-health, healthy and good-condition which aredivided by18indexes of the ecosystem health evaluation model.(2)take the small watersheds--wangJiaZhai and YangChangDongin HongFengHu demonstration area for example: we analyse theecosystem health comprehensively in fourperiods:2000,2005,2010,2013,the results show: the implementationof rocky desertification prevention and control projects have agood effect on the ecosystem health, and both of the two area turnbetter.Ecosystem health assessment for the HongFengHu comprehensivedemonstration area provides reference for framework and model ofkarst ecological environment system health assessment, we seekfor a Parameter monitoring technology for rocky desertificationecosystem and quantitative research method for Prevention andcontrol of desertification. This could be a reference for ecological environment survey and monitoring research in otherkarst rocky desertification area. It also provid a thought andmethod for Ecological environment health evaluation of karst areain southwest china.
