with the development of economy. people have gradually understood that the competition between companies depends more on the supply chain area. So SCM draws more and more attention from both industries and academic field. High-efficient SCM can help a company to build it core competency. As we all know, the inventory management is one inevitable sector and playing an important role in the enterprise whole operation. Obviously, the inventory volume has the impact to the total cost of sole enterprise by the supply chain management. It also impacts and restricts the function of whole supply chain. In China,most of coal business are facing the Problem of high stock cost .How to apply the new inventory management methodology to utilize the resource of supply chain and reduce the supply chain cost,managing the supply chain in a higher efficiency, lower cost,more flexibility and just in time is now becoming the focus of all manufacturers.Vender Managed Inventory (VMI), as a newly inventory management strategy, highly reflects the integrated SCM concept. Hence it's really an interesting topic to fulfill a VMI mode effectively provided the project designed carefully and scientifically.First of all, this dissertation gives an overall introduction of inventory management, then takes the efforts on researching of the key issues of VMI. Combined with working experience and the case of ZiKuang,under the analysis of actual operation and existing problems on the supply chain management(SCM),coming out the VMI Program implementation Plan of ZiKuang, a detail description of the design and implementation process of a distributed VMI management system is given.
