In recent years, with the rapid development of sensor technology, wireless communication technology, and low-power embedded technology, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have quickly become the research highlight both at home and abroad.As a short-distance, low-power, low-cost wireless network technology, ZigBee has been widely used in wireless sensor networks recently. However, with the further development of the research, its complex networking, low-rate transmission have gradually emerged, and limited its further development and wider field of application.Wi-Fi has developed rapidly as a wireless LAN technology because of its high transmission rate, long propagation distance, and wide coverage. However, during the past long period of time, its applications in WSNs have been held back severely by its high power consumption, high costs and high complexity. But as the rapid extension of Wi-Fi technology and Wi-Fi-based network construction, these influence factors have been resolved gradually, and it's the ripe time for the applications in WSNs.This paper has completed the embedded hardware and software design and implementation of a kind of Wi-Fi-based WSNs node. With the highly intergrated, ultra-low power GS1010 SoC as the main controller, the sensor node hardware realized the data collection and network transmission of external temperature and humidity sensor, light sensor, acceleration sensor, battery voltage and received signal strength indicator (RSSI). Based on uVelOSity embedded real-time operating system and IP network protocol stack, the sensor node software was designed including sensor drivers and system application software development.Finally, in this paper, two experiments were designed to verify the performance of the sensor node hardware and software, including a sensor information collection experiment and indoor real-time location experiment. The experimental results shows that, the sensor node works normally with a stable performance, which can acquire the sensor data and other application related data, establish a connection with the server and realize the data network transmission accurately. As a result, cooperating with the server application software, the sensor node has successfully achieved the sensor information collection and indoor real-time location capabilities.
