Overloading of vehicles had brought great harm to road safety, public facilities and people's lives and property. So, manageing overloading, had reached a serious condition. However, the existing control measures, mainly through seteting road barriers special place, and blocking the trucks to weigh station. Although it could be approach weighed accurately and prevented the overload from occurring to some extent. But, it spent a lot of manpower, material, and had a lot of regulatory blind. In recent years, the load cell technology was developed rapidly. But it was difficult to find out the location to install in the vehicle, without changing the body structure under the premise of the current sensor. In order to achieve all operational vehicles on a centralized, remote control, the paper designed a set of overloading alarm system, accuracy & easyly installation & low cost, based on GPS/GSM.This alarm system designed to monitor vehicles real-time and location tracking. Hardware and software parts were discoursed in this paper, and validated the equipment by actual vehicle experiments finally.System hardware design was mainly from the ultrasonic sensor, temperature compensation components, PCB production, as well as GPS/GSM interfaces and other aspects discussed. Introducted the realization principle and the working process in this paper, and given core circuit.System software clarified the sensor systems, data acquisition, GPS/GSM software design and other functions. The system core work processes and software source code were given in this paper.GPRS MODEM as the control center to the receiving part, decoded messages that sent back, and saved for future inquiries. The development of equipment was used in the real experiment when system design was completed. After overloading load field test, results showed that this alarm system was stable, alert and accurate. Currently, this system had being commercialized, and this products have been put into trial operation of small quantities.
