| As a vital component of multimedia applications, video conference provide straight, comprehensive communication solution for users in distance, which contribute a lot for social information exchange. During the past decades, various video conference systems have been developed. Nowadays, there're two kinds of prevalent video conference systems. One is based on H.323, and the other is based on SIP. However, due to the complexity and lack of flexibility of H.323 video conference system, the SIP ones are taking the place for its simplicity and flexibility. Especially, SIP video conference system has become the first choice in the converged networks with the development of NGN related technology.This paper designed and implemented a SIP video conference system server for converged networks. The main functions of the server are:a) conference logic control:implementation of multi-endpoint call control, conference state maintenance, and conference management; b) media interactive control:implemented interactive control of the whole system SIP-signaling, and control the transaction and transmission between the user terminals and multimedia server.This paper gave a brief introduction to the H.323 and the SIP conference, and then made a comparison. It also analyzed the main functions of SIP conference server and its position within the video conference system, based on the principle of separating conference logic control from media control. We designed the architectural structure of SIP conference server, presented the design and implementation of conference control module and other core modules in detail, and also the solution of state machine and database table design. In addition, several test cases showed the testing of demo system. At the end of this paper, we summarized our work and also took a further view of the aim and research area of future work. |
