In the new generation of Internet, there are more requirements in the performance Scalability and Deployment. And the structure of the route is becoming more complex. The structure of the router takes a large development for the requirement of new generation of the Internet. The traditional centralized router gradually develops to the distributed router. The thesis is aiming at the high performance distributed router, combined with the project sponsored by the National Basic Research Program of China (973), which is "Measurable controllable and administrable IP network". The router is based on the requirement of next generation of network. The thesis is focus on the routing level on the distributed router. And there is a solution on the design and the build of the router on click software.Click is a new software architecture for building flexible and configurable routers. Click was originally developed at MIT with subsequent development at Mazu Networks, ICIR, UCLA, and Meraki. The design on the high performance distributed router in this thesis are contain three parts, which is data Plane, Management Plane and control Plane. And the control Plane is the most important part in the distribute router, which sent routing information to the all parts in the distribute router.These three parts of the router can work together on the design. And the click software system and the switch can afford the requirement of the design.In the following research, the distributed router can apply different exchange structures easily. In the control Plane, the router can use XORP software, which is extensible open router platform. In the Management Plane, the router can work well with data Plane and routing Plane.
