With the development of virtual reality technology, simulation training has been widely used in various industries. The simulation of helicopter flight training has become an important means. And it is becoming increasingly important in daily training and special training of the helicopter. It's easy to maintain, low cost and high safety, so it will become the primary means of training for helicopter pilots.Helicopter flight simulator is a large comprehensive integrated system, and visual simulation system is an important part. Visual simulation system is simulated flight training in the cockpit for the pilots to provide realistic visual scenes outside, to improve the fidelity of simulation training.Visual simulation systems to modular systems designed to guide the thinking of both the scalability and maintainability, be divided into three relatively independent parts:the database landscape, scene-driven management software and display systems. Terra Vista Landscape database and Presagis Creator tool completed for the visual simulation system model of the core database design and implementation. Scene-driven management software to Vega Prime as a tool to complete the landscape database of calls, roaming, special effects generation, collision detection, the design and implementation of management functions. Completed a real-time display system generated visual images to be displayed.This paper describes the application and technical status of that helicopter flight simulator and visual simulation technology. Described in detail TerraVista, Creator and VegaPrime tools such as visual simulation applications, and explains how to use these tools to develop a helicopter flight simulator visual simulation system. As focuses, discuss on the ideas and methods of terrain modeling, airport modeling and three-dimensional solid modeling. This paper summarized shooting and handling skills and methods of texture methods during the process of modeling. Study OpenFlight database optimization, LOD techniques, texture mapping and the bulletin board technology, and apply these technologies to enhance the overall visual simulation system performance. Application RelativePriority of Creator to solve modeling problems encountered in the overlapping area flicker. Small area to increase the local terrain texture detail and realism, to abandon the traditional application of simply repeating the details of large-scale texture methods, instead of using a synthetic terrain textures and details of the method of combining texture, increase the system consumed in limited circumstances, substantially increased the fidelity.
