Research On The Reality Show In The Background Of The Chinese Culture

The reality shows have been popular on TV because of its unique fascination in recent years, which subvert and shock the traditional programs. Although the reality shows have aroused wide controversy, such exotic shows develop surprisingly rapidly. This kind of shows which was only fresh and strange to audiences initially has become the main stream in the present TV shows within recent years. It is not exaggerated to say that wherever there are reality shows, the audience rating is high. However, the reality shows have always been completely imitated, the homogenous phenomenon is so serious that the Chinese reality shows go into a corner. Even the reality show of super female singers which is the most popular was facing the situation of lower audience rating in 2009. In other words, which way to choose at the crossing? It is a task to be studied whether to go to decline or to seek a new jumping-off point.Actually my inspiration on this article originates from what Kofi Annan, the ex-secretary general of U.N., said after accepting the Nobel Peace Prize. He said that human were the product of culture, tradition and memories. He thought the mutual respect between individuals would promote the mutual combination of native culture and foreign culture so as to gain more powerful strength. Started with the situation of Chinese reality shows, this article studies the problems that exist in Chinese reality shows in detail. After comparing with the western reality shows , analyzing the concrete case and studying the Chinese traditional cultural influence on the reality show, the article orientates the Chinese reality shows and puts forward the corresponding advice. Can Chinese reality shows be rooted in Chinese situation and audiences'concept of appreciation and continue to develop? What environment do Chinese reality shows need? And how to transform according to the current situation?...
