Based on optical communication and geography information technology, this paper analyzed and researched the accurate positioning of the communication cable fault needs, combined GIS technology with OTDR (optical time domain reflection), digitized the map, achieved spatial data and attribute data in unified storage, management and alerts on show real-time on GIS, solute the problem of the automatic real-time updates data by the batch data entry method, in order to quickly achieve a more accurate cable fault location, introduced wavelet transform to OTDR curve, using combining wavelet-domain coefficients of the threshold de-noising with signal-enhancing method, analyzed the event points of OTDR curve. Finally, based on the demand of optical cable communications business, this paper designed the communication cable fault location system, which theme is the optical cable fault location. Practical application shows that the point of failure in line with the actual survey, positioning is accurate and reliable.
