With the rapid development and innovation of the container terminal logistics technology and equipment and the diversification of the terminal design requirements, it is difficult to obtain sufficient information and accuracy by the conventional method of calculation and simulation. The more advanced analysis method for terminal logistics system should be explored, which can complement and enrich the content of terminal planning and design, and improve the level of container terminal design. This paper researches and develops the virtual-reality test platform for container terminal logistics system based on the numerical simulation. The platform is able to present the container terminal and handling process which will be planed and constructed in the future. Through the combination with numerical simulation and virtual-reality, it expands the analysis measures of container terminal logistics system. The following topics are mainly researched in this paper.1) The research on numerical simulation technology of container terminal logistics system. It builds the container terminal logistics system layer model based on the structural relationship. And it establishes the container terminal logistics system dynamic model by UML modeling language based on the system propel mode. It researches the simplification, abstraction and function modules of the container terminal logistics system simulation model. It also discusses the technical features of container terminal logistics system numerical simulation.2) The design and development of the virtual-reality test platform for container terminal logistics system. From the system function angle, the applications of virtual reality system are expounded. Thus driving system design with function location, the paper analyzes the construction composition and requirement. And it dissertates the applications and implementation methods of the various functional modules specifically.3) The key technologies for container terminal virtual-reality simulation and test system. The four critical points are researched, which are driving technology of virtual reality, smoothing technique of animation, collision avoidance technology and render technology of ultra-large-scale scene.4) The applications of container terminal virtual-reality simulation and test system. The paper analyzes container terminal simulation process and container terminal logistics system evaluation methods based on virtual-reality simulation. It regards a single-berth container terminal layout and large container ships handling operations as the test object, and makes experiment and analysis. It reflectss the positive role of the virtual-reality test platform for container terminal logistics system in the terminal simulation evaluation.Through the above researches, the paper proposes a set of new technologies and methods for container terminal simulation. It provides a new way for planning and design of container terminal logistics system.
