A Statistical Analysis Of Core Papers Published And Papers Included By SCI(E) By The First Affiliated Hospital Of Soochow University From 2004-2008

Objectives: to explore the situation of high-quality scientific papers published by the medical personnel of the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from 2004-2008 and their authors, to conduct a statistical analysis of the quantity, quality and author of scientific papers published in core domestic journals and those published in international journals and also included by SCI (E), to investigate the status quo and existing problems of the hospital's scientific innovation teams and talent cultivation, and thus providing an objective basis and suggestions for the implementation of the"Hospital Development through Science and Education"and"Sustainable Development"strategy, the construction of innovative research teams as well as the improvement of hospital academic status.Methods: 1. Searching papers published in core domestic journals (hereinafter referred to as"core papers"): use CNKI-Chinese Journal Full-text Database and Hospital Annual Statistical Report of Scientific Papers Published to search for the core papers published from 2004-2008 with"the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University"as the author's first unit, eliminating those written by in-service graduates who are not working in the hospital. 2, Searching papers included by the international SCI (E) (hereinafter referred to as"SCI (E) papers") : use"Web of Science", an online database by The Institute for Scientific Information (US ) and the data about SCI (E) papers obtained from the Chinese Science and Technology Research Institute yearly to search for the SCI (E) papers published from 2004-2008 with"the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University"as the author's or the corresponding author's first unit. 3. Combining the hospital scientific research files and personnel files, using bibliometric analysis, conduct a statistical analysis of the high-quality scientific papers published by medical personnel of the hospital during the five-year period and their authors.Results: Such information as the distribution of publish date, department of author and journal type, the co-authorship and the influence of papers (including references and journal impact factors), the contrast between key disciplines and non-key disciplines, the author's basic information including age, professional title and degree about the core papers and SCI(E) papers published by the medical personnel of the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University during the five-year period is identified and analyzed.Suggestions: 1. Implementing the"Hospital Development through Science and Education, Talent is the Foundation"strategy, to comprehensively promote the hospital's scientific research and innovation ability; 2. to perfect the hospital's scientific research management system and establish an effective motivation system; 3. led by key disciplines, to realize the coordinated development of multi-disciplines; 4. to handle the relationship between the quantity and quality of the scientific papers published; 5. to improve the"Continuing Medical Education"system and make great efforts to build a learning organization.
