Digital Library is a combination of traditional Libraries and modern electronic and information technology, with characteristics of digital resources and transmission network, while the most obvious features of it is the sharing of resources. However, many difficulties to its function realization are caused by the characteristics of the "collection" of digital resources with the dynamic, heterogeneous, distributed. And with the dramatic increase in the amount of information, the problems of traditional C/S mode are gradually exposed, mainly including server failure, load balancing and scalability problems, lag issues, Information Isolated Island between libraries and other issue. In this context, new network model is desperate needed by Digital Library resource sharing. It breaks the traditional C/S mode and each node is equal in status, which acts as both client and server. Since all the nodes in the network are equal, they have the same responsibilities and capabilities to complete collaborative tasks, so they can achieve the full sharing of information resources, processor resources and storage resources between nodes without having to rely on support of a centralized server,in this way to eliminate the isolated Information islands and resource island. This thesis first describes the concept of digital libraries, characteristics and typical architectures and then introduces concepts of P2P, finally summarized research of P2P used in the Digital Library. On that basis, the thesis puts up forward with a framework of Resource Sharing for Digital Library Based on Peer-to-Peer and then makes a detailed analysis of the framework structure and functional modules as well. After that, an in-depth analysis and study of the key issues of this framework is also demonstrated in this thesis. The author makes a research of the meta-data integration solutions under mixed multi-tier heterogeneous model of P2P networks. The integration is divided into three categories: integration of same meta-data format, integration of different meta-data format in the same community, integration of different metadata format integration in the different communities. In this thesis, a framework of Resource Sharing for Digital Library Based on Peer-to-Peer and its meta-data solution are proposed, which are only theoretically feasible and need further study for putting into practice.
