Comparing with other public key cryptography in the same security premise, ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) has the advantages of short key, small storage space and fewer processing steps. It is popular and has become the mainstream of encryption in the field of smart card.Today, smart cards have been widely used, while various attacks against ECC also come up. Common attack methods are inefficient and invalid in the life of a smart card. However, the power attack is an efficient way and become the major threat.This thesis studied and analyzed the principles of ECC and the methods of power attack. And Lots of methods were studied for ECC resisting power attack on the basis. This paper focused on the schemes against power attack for ECC in smart cards and analyzed their execution efficiency and safety with data.Point-mask is a main method to resist DPA. The per-work for it is choosing a random point on Elliptic Curve. Comparing to traditional method, this paper proposed a new way to compute the random point, and it acquired National patent.In this thesis, the computational costs were compared in different coordinate according to the computing ability of smart cards, and these defensive schemes were evaluated by choosing the most efficient combination of coordinates. This paper proposed a more efficiency and optimal defence scheme in smart cards, and proved the correctness of the scheme in theory. Its features are high efficient and strong security.The ECC algorithm with defensive measures was designed in smart card chip based on the defense scheme by a combination of hardware and software manners. The hardware part included low-level operations of ECC, it was verified by simulation. While the software part included pelagic operations of ECC, it was validated by the calculation of actual data.The experimental verifications were performed on the ECC algorithm with defense scheme proposed by this paper and without it in the smart card chip respectively. First the chip was attacked according to power attack theoretical approach, the power trace was collected when the chip working. Then a lot of power data was collected and analyzed. And a waveform was drawn as a result. Validation results show that the anti-power attack scheme proposed by this thesis could resist the threat of power attacks completely. The effectiveness of the defensive measures was proved in practice.
