Along with the rapid development of computer's calculating ability, the method to realize radar signal simulation (RSS) has gradually using pure software instead of specific signal process like DSP. The first important content of this study is building a RSS software, which can produce radar video echo signal by using pure software and pass it to another simulation system.In the progress of developing this software, we found that most of subsystems of different RSS software may have similar functions. If all of them are designed and realized repeatedly, the efficiency of project development must be depressed. However, these software are designed without considering the reuseability in the past, they can only be used for special application requirement. In order to accomplish universality, extensible and reusable RSS software, the solution to use platform and plug-ins idea to the design of RSS software is proposed, which is the second important content of this study. In this paper, an universal RSS platform and some related plugins has been realized. A suit of mechanism using by platform and plug-ins system, such as inner communication mechanism, data exchange mechanism, project development pattern and software reusable politic, is also designed. All of above has been verified in practice.Firstly, this paper introduces functional demand of RSS software and the basic thesis and fuction of RSS. Secondly, the reason why chosing platform and plug-ins idea to design RSS software is proposed, then the simulation platform and plug-ins is desinged and realized by this idea. In this course, a plug-in working model based on message-driven is also introduced. This software has been passed testing, which proves its availability. Finally, this paper reaches the conclusion that an example of extension platform based ActiveX technonlogy is introduced, which proves that not only this software is extended by plug-ins, but also it can be extended by platform. So the RSS software designed with platform and plug-ins idea has better ability in extension and flexibility.
