In this paper, the concept,types, application, temperature measurement principle of temperature-sensitive paint and the making technology of standard sample plates are introduced. Temperature-sensitive paint, which is a kind of temperature sensor, is used for aeroengine on condition of high temperature, high pressure and high speed. Based on chromaticity theory, this computer system realizes automatic temperature-sensitive paint temperature-recognition with digital image processing and database technology. On one hand, it overcomes the effects of artificial recognition subjectivity, environment light and the ability of color vision. On the other hand, the color and temperature property of temperature-sensitive paint are studied in the paper. The method for temperature recognition is proposed. It greatly improves the accuracy of temperature-recognition and provides data for quantitative analysis. By means of top-to-bottom and modularization, the control software is explicit and easy to maintain.Based on the color temperature property of temperature-sensitive paint and chromaticity theory, the hardware configuration and the software development are discussed in this paper. In the aspect of hardware, a digital camera, a computer and a standard light source are selected to construct the system. In order to ensure the data comparability, the location of digital camera, standard light source and components are limited. which improves the accuracy of temperature- recognition and decreases the errors. In the aspect of software, data input and temperature-recognition human-machine interface are included.A experiment is done to check the validity of temperature recognition with KN6. Finally, the errors are analysed and problems to be solved in future work are summarized.
