From the sociological perspective, this study describes the status and influential factors of scientific literacy of city public , which is divided into four different phases of age , basing on the investigation of the literacy of city public in 2006. We hope to supply some material to the vulgar research of scientific literacy of city public. And with the unusual findings, others could have new ideas.The study shows , the scientific literacy of city public are different in age ,which is the less of the age , the higher of the scientific literacy of city public. The determinants of scientific literacy of city public include: education media, mass media, public resource of science. The influence of education media and mass media have a positive correlation with scientific literacy of city public, which of young public has stronger correlation with education media and old public has stronger correlation with mass media. Besides that, The influence of public resource of science has a infinitesimal correlation with scientific literacy of city public.According to the conclusions, the study tries to explain the function of education media, in order to developing the theory of socialization of pedagogy. Furthermore, the author gives the reasons for the differences between medium criticism and the new findings. And for the infinitesimal influence of public resource of science, we also discuss why it is different from studies of others.
