In this dissertation, the theory, methods and key technologies of the simulation system ofcontinously machining the polygon based on VERICUT are studied systematically. Thegeometrical simulation system of continously machining the polygon based on VERICUT isdeveloped. The main contents of the dissertation are as following:(1)The present status and trends of the research on CAD/CAM, NC machiningsimulation and the machining method about the polygon parts are reviewed. The function ofmodules and the implementation method are discussed.(2)The design principle and the design goal of the geometrical simulation system ofcontinously machining the polygon based on VERICUT are presented. The frame of it is built,and the relevant function models and the realized methods are put forward.(3)The defination and the parametric equation of cycoid are researched deeply. Themethod of machining the polygon part using the principle of cycoid is put forward. Theinfluence of cycloid parameters in the cycloid equation on its shape is researched, and theerror analysis and calculation about continously machining polygon are realized based onVERICUT. So the feasibility of machining the polygon part using the principle of cycoid isproved in theory.(4)The characteristics of continously machining polygon are researched. The motionrelations of NC machine are analyzed,and the total structure of the NC machine is built. Thethree-dimension solid models of machine, cutter, rough and clamping fixture are built, whichare parameterized.(5)The method of NC simulation based on VERICUT is studied. The geometricalsimulation system of continously machining the polygon based on VERICUT is built, whichis applied on the machining simulation of the straight slot and the polygon. By analyzing theerror of the machined part, the correctness of machining the polygon using the principle ofcycoid is proved more.Finally, a summary of the research work and the results is made and plans for futureresearch is presented.
