The thesis tries to present a theoretical analysis of the new reform of television message, which began in 1990s, from a brand-new perspective—narratology. Since it is an analysis from the perspective of narratology, our interpretation can not help being "formal", that is to say, we place extra emphasis on the study of the texts. In order to present a clear picture of the changes of television messages since 1990s, we conduct a statistical analysis on those messages that have won Chinese Journalism Prize, the highest of its kind. We found that the changes of television message texts are connected with the narratology theory. It, to some extent, shows that the television media has already begun to pay attention to the great influence narratology has on the optimization of television message delivering effect.Firstly, the television message's pursuit of and emphasis on details and narratology's interpretation of core cases and catalytic cases are different in approach but equally satisfactory in result. In a whole text of television message, if we take the five Ws and one H as its core cases, the details which emphasize and highlight the five Ws and one H are its catalytic cases. Since 1990s, the frequent applications of vivid details have had a positive influence upon the delivering effect of television messages.Secondly, the introduction of live report model is in fact a conscious application of the narration of "settings'" in narrative time span. Thanks to the use of longtake in the live report, the journalist on cameral can interview and report as soon as possible on the sport of news event. This form of report, which uses "setting" as major narrative time span, can bring the television news' advantages of sound-picture expression and strong sense of spot in to full play and thus is an important way to enhance the delivering effect.Thirdly, the application of skills like conflict, contrast and suspense is closely related to the "conflict" narration and "breakpoint" narration in narratology. As for those news events and phenomenon that have strong conflicts, we can attract the audience's attention and enhance the delivering effect by giving prominence to the conflict between the subject and anti-subject. Even for those without strong conflict, we can "make up" conflicts though the application of contrast and suspense, so as to achieve such an effect.Fourthly, the innovation of the angle of television message in some way coincides with the defamiliarization theory in the Russian formalism. The "defamiliarization" of television message means to defamiliarize the familiarity, to break with convention and to change the old model of news and refresh the acceptance of narration. There are many ways to realize the defamiliarization of television message, among which the defamiliarization of narrative angle and perspective are more frequently used and mature. After a detailed interpretation of some frequent used report methods in the innovative practice of television message since 1990s from a perspective of narratology, we found that the reformatory and innovative process of television message is one that continuously absorb the useful parts of various narratology medias and fully " televisionize" it. The future reform and innovation of television message will still be in this direction.
