Ultra-wideband (UWB) radar is a new-style radar, the transmission signal of which is nanosecond-wide impulse without high frequency carrier. Due to the peculiar transmission signal, the detection performance of UWB radar is excellent and the future is promising. Naturally, the research of UWB impulse radar transmitter plays a very important role in UWB radar reseach field. The subject of the paper is to study the transmitter further, based on UWB radar test system. The main contents are outlined as follows:1,Design and theory of UWB radar transmitter, especially impulse source was introduced.2,Based on the analysis of factors which determine UWB radar detection distance, a method of increasing the tranmitter output-energy by high pulse repetition frequency(PRF) was put forward. A delay circuit based on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) was designed to make high PRF come true.3,The method of realizing UWB radar beam sacn was brought forward, that is, precisely controlling the trigger time of the impule source in each transmitter. A precise deay circuit using FPGA was designed to implement deay control.
