Examples Analyzing And Evaluating Of Faceted Metadata Application System

Internet which resource distribution is dispersed is an open, dynamic, isomeric network. Its information quantity is very large and lacking unified management. Users have to spend a lot of time to find information. Search Engine and different kinds of professional information retrieval systems have lighten the burden on the people. But nowadays neither these search engines nor can the professional retrieval system satisfy the users' various professional demand. So a more effective information network organization is needed to satisfy the futher demand of users. Faceted metadata reflects its unique advantages in the continuing discussion and application.This paper introduces faceted theory including the development of faceted classification, metadata research, the current status and development of faceted metadata, the technical development of to support the automation -XFML, FACETMAR Present successful products are divided into three parts as a summary. This paper also evaluates the system from the development of search engines and retrieval system direction indicators. Retrieval systems are TOWER and dangdang.com,NCSU library and NJAU library,FLAMENCO and phototime.com. Summaring the shortcomings and adwantages, putting forward proposals direction of the faceted Search for future development.This is the first case of presentation and evaluation for the faceted search domesticlly.
