WAP service was initially weakly received due to slow access and lack of available content. Recently, the drastic deployment of tele-communication especially in GPRS/CDMA, and the rampant enlarging of networks scale and services have led to a considerable growth of the carried WAP traffic. Because of this growing trend, new engineering problems have appeared, since existing traffic models were based on light usage patterns. WAP traffic is going over an ever-wider range of protocols and equipments, therefore creating an increasing number of associated risks for failure or timeout, and prompting more device trouble. At the moment, it is very difficult and troublesome for operators or vendors to quickly and easily pinpoint the reasons for WAP failures.Basing on the analyses above, we can draw a conclusion that it is indispensable for monitoring of WAP traffic and optimization of WAP services. Through the real-time monitoring of GPRS network as well as the simultaneous analyzing of the WAP services ,operators can synchronously get various running parameters, and then adjust network equipments'status, so that to improve service performance, to reduce their costs, to maximize their incomes.This paper has demonstrated some main issue by function, by theory, and about how does this system realize. Furthermore, it has brought forth in detail the scheme about Implement and Design of Real-Time Monitoring System of WAP Service Based on GPRS Network.Function: Network monitoring and optimization is regarded as a process in order to make network work perfectly by using the various technical method of real-time monitoring network. Through analyzing network parameters in real-time, adjust the reasonless part of all existent networks. The network monitoring includes the WAP data status analysis, the WAP PKI (primary key indication) analysis, the resource adjustment, etc.Theory: Through the mirror port of the tele-communication network, such as the GPRS network, the monitoring system exports the traffic from the tested network's data-services to the monitoring host's network interface device, then initializes the reserved IP packets, as well as records the related IP packets detail messages, such as IP service type, ToS(type of service), interface identification etc. according to the protocol analysis, the traffic statistics, and WAP services PKI value, the monitoring take charge of the always networks.Implement: Having analyzed the architecture of the GPRS network, understood completely the WAP network resource and current WAP services situation, according to the current software engineering thought, we can divide the monitoring system into three levels architecture including eight modules. The first level is data-analysis-level involving data-acquisition module, pre-process module, data-analysis module, service-process module. The second level is transaction-process-level included event-processing module, monitoring/statistic/alarm module, database-operating module. The third level is the user-controlling level composed of user-operation-interface module.Developing environment: Data process referring to protocol analysis in lower layer is implemented by Microsoft VC++ 6.0 DLL. Embedded MySQL database is used to design transaction-process layer in order to realize the data management, query history data, and finish the function of report analysis. The user operation interface is developed by Delphi VCL technology.
