With the rapid development of science and technology, advanced mining waysand technologies have been applied to the coal mine more and more. The mining isgoing into the intelligent and automatic era. But the traditional mining methods willstill take the dominant role in a period of time. At the same time, the miningenterprises will still feel harassed by a series of security problems.It is necessary for safe production of the mining enterprises to strengthen thesupervision of the mining operations personnel. At the present time, most of personnel.management systems installed in the mine are based on RFID technology. This kindof system has an abundant of functions of check attendance management but lacks thelocation function. It gives the location information of the mining operations personnelroughly instead of accurately, which is crucial to the rescue, when a security accidenthappened to the mine.This paper has introduced present research and development of the personnellocation and management system in China and abroad; discussed the possibility ofZigBee technology used in mine; constructed a wireless sensor network by usingZigBee technology. Then, a new kind of personnel location and management systemof coal mine based on ZigBee technology is designed. The system can monitor thelocation and identify the status of the personnel with the wireless sensor in the coalmine. The system can get personnel statistics information and inquire the personneldistributed information rapidly for the safety of the coal mine. In addition, this systemis adapted to coal mine check attendance management.In this paper, the systematic ensemble architecture and strategy to solve keyproblems are provided. Basing on J2EE platform and applying B/S frame, design andimplementation of software system are finished. By combining this system withgeography information system, monitor data and spatial data are integrated, whichrepresents intelligent and integrated.
