At present, Bionic Flapping-wing Aerial Robot has become an active area of research as a new type of Micro Air Vehicle(MAV). On the basis of digesting the effective research achievements in flapping-wing flight mechanisms, aerodynamic characteristics for the robot are analyzed and calculated, then with the aerodynamic analyses flapping-wing actuator is designed and manufactured in this paper.Firstly, on the basis of summarizing the methods of calculating aerodynamics, the flapping model is established. With a numerical simulation method power of the model is measured and simulated. Based on scaling rules, the flapping-wing model of the robot is fixed on.Secondly, according to the requests of Bionic Flapping-wing Aerial Robot on flapping-wing actuator, a planar symmetrical flapping-wing actuator is presented. In contrast to other actuators, it increases the symmetry of motion when flying. The prototype examinations testified its advantages.Finally, this thesis improves flapping-wings, flapping-wing actuator and control system of the primary prototype of Bionic Flapping-wing Aerial Robot and then manufactures a new prototype. Some elementary practices are carried out. Outcomes of the experiments indicate that practical data are coincident with theoretical calculation. All the experimental work shows a good achievement.
