The IT and digital technology were seen as the main power that make theinformation age improved at the present day. As the information carrior, applicationsof multimedia such as the video and audio are more and more important in everyfield of the society. The property of digital video is one of bottlenecks that limit theexpansion of the multimedia service.ITU and ISO/IEC issued the H.264 video compression standard in May 2003. Itbecomes the focus of studing and appling in video industry for its effective ability ofcompression and well adaptation of networks. The outstanding compressperformance, fitting for the popular network such as ip or mobile, improvingcapability of error resilience is obvious characteristic from the previous standards.Generally, the improvement in preformance leads to higher computationalcomplexity in H.264 standard. In this paper the architecture of H.264 softwaredecoder is analyzed. A method to increase the decoding speed is given. we alsopresented an error resilience algorithm. This is the foundation for us to prepare forthe application in the future.
