Modern Camera Phone and digital still cameras sample the color spectrumusing a color filter array(Bayer Pattern) coated to the CCD or CMOS arraysuch that each pixel samples only one color channel. The result is a mosaic ofcolor samples which is used to reconstruct the full color image by taking theinformation of the pixels' neighborhood. This process is called demosaicingalgorithm.In the digital camera area, the image quality is most important andsignificant. This paper introduces a new interpolation technique fordemosaicing of color images produced by CMOS Camera phone. Thealgorithm comes from the thesis of "Effective color interpolation in CCDcolor filter array using signal correlation", it's proposed by Professor Pei andProfessor Tam, and will be called "P-T algorithm" in the following. Theproposed simple linear filter can lead to an improvement in PSNR around 4dBwhen compared to Bi-linear demosaicing algorithm. P-T algorithm willimprove the sharpness and color reproduction of the whole picture. It's goodenough to replace the Bi-linear color interpolation algorithm in the Cameraphone and digital still camera.
