During the following several years, entertainment is going to be the most profitable industry. Up till now, the capacity of world entertainment market have been reached USD 1200 billion, mainly concentrate on film, music CD, computer game and other media entertainment items. Nearly every country is trying to share this big market.China has a rich and profound culture source. China Spring Festival has value of RMB 1.73 billion. In 2007, the possible buying power of China entertainment industry is RMB 550 billion. How much measurable value does China entertainment resource contain?Many media researches,especially the TV research focus on information transfer. The target of such kind research is finding out how much new knowledge media teach and how much mental idea media transfer. According to Chinese situation, the obvious ability of media, entertainment, is usually be neglected and concealed. The fact in the modern society we could not deny is that most people are looking for joy when they are seated before TV. So, it is important for us to have a positive cognition on the social and psychological function of entertainment.From the point view of society, entertainment is usually denounced for his characteristic"reality disengagement". In pseudo-reality, entertainment is regarded to have people release pressure and forget pain temporarily, and also have people lose courage and capacity to challenge reality. The castigation on entertainment seems reasonable, but which denies entertainment's positive function.In the west, entertainment is treated as a kind of economy instead of an propagandizing and inspiring process. The Canada media professor, Mike Nuhamme said that the real society pedagogue is not school and church but media.All in all, we should find the reason why people are apt to entertainment and what kind of experience they obtain? The problem which need us to resolve is that, bring the entertainment research into academe, annotate entertainment's connotation and essence, probe into entertainment's social and psychological functions.
