The Research And Implementation Of Adaptive Mechanism Of Workflow Management System

Recently enterprises feel extremely large pressure under the situation of fierce market competition. In order to survive and expand, enterprises make speed the step of resources consolidation and autoimmunization. Due to suiting the trend, the technology of workflow gets widely attention by the industry and the academe, and develops quickly.The variety of the real world requires the workflow management system to support dynamic and real-time adjustability. How to make the workflow management system support dynamic and adaptive characters is the focus of the current research of workflow. This paper studies the adaptation of the workflow on the level of process. It's the key point to make the system handle various situations automatically to guarantee the integrity of business.The work of this paper includes:1. Based on ECA rules and Activities, the paper presents an adaptive workflow model. This model adopts ECA rules to describe the execution logic of the workflow, and triggers the execution of the workflow instance by events. It uses rules to describe and handle the uncertain dynamic changes happened when execution, which makes instances adapt to changes flexibly.2. Guided by the adaptive workflow model, the paper introduces an adaptive handling strategy to deal with the possible failure during the running process of the workflow instance. It uses adaptive rules to handle anticipative logic failures. The paper describes modification performatives in detail, and explains the correctness and consistency of the modification operations. In the case of execution failure, Disposals are taken according to the influence range of the failure, if needed manual operations could be used.3. The paper formally expands the usual communication language KQML which is used by Agents, and expresses the semantic element of the expanded performative by first order logic. Extended KQML performatives enlarge the expression ability of KQML and simplify the communication between Agents in the Agent_based workflow system.4. According to the adaptive workflow model, the paper presents new workflow management system architecture by introducing Agents. On the platform of JATLite, an Agent_based adaptive workflow prototype system is designed and implemented.The lack of dynamic and adaptive characters is the main obstacles that limit the workflow products to play a more important role. The paper lucubrates this problem and improves the adaptive performance of the workflow; also this paper studies the application of Agent in the implement of workflow management system.
