Along with the development of economy and enhancement of living standard in our country, people have been paying more and more attention to their health service quality. In order to satisfy people's requirement, the electronic medical record (EMR) has been designed and has been taking an important roles in the health information system. The EMR organizes medical case history as a whole database in the principle of "To centre on patient" instead of "To centre on charge", and provides many functions such as electronic store, inquiry, statistics, and data exchange. The whole EMR database is also very important in clinical diagnosis. The EMR is one promising technology in medical care system, it can collect disperse medical records from various aspects, and assists doctor to diagnose correctly and study efficiently. In this Dissertation, the author has studied various domestics and foreign research achievements in the EMR system firstly, and then aiming at the questions encounted during the EMR system's development process, uses the mature stable J2EE multilayer system structure and unified XML technology to design and realize a EMR system. The complex structure of medical records are described by the XML language, and then the EMR documents in the EMR system are processed, to provide the browsing, secure access controlling, statistical and aided decision analysis, sharing service of the EMR and so on.The author discusses the detailed structure and implementation of EMR system's display layer, business logic layer and data persisting layer, and other methods such as using the design pattern and the XML to optimize system structure and to build a high performance, redundant and reliable EMR system. Finally, the author presents system testing results, analyzes the superiority and the flaw of our system, and points out the future research of the system.
