Research, Design And Application Of Domino OA System Based On J2ME Mobile Terminal

With the intense development of computer and network technology, Office Automation (OA) is in progress and improvement continually. Original OA only utilize office information carrier electronically, but now, OA system can actualize information share, job cooperation, telecommuting, and reasonable work flow organization among self-existent office workers through diversified applications of computer system. With a view to developing direction of OA, this paper analyse source of demand of OA system based on mobile terminal, combine with actual instance and problem in using Chengdu Railway Bureau OA System.Mobile technology is a rising domain in lastest years. It's most important to select correlative platforms in mobile application of OA system. Firstly, in the popular OA platforms, Lotus Domino/Notes can satisfy all requirements of Chengdu Railway Bureau OA, considering database structure, work flow, software designing, system opening degree and developing trend of system. Secondly, J2ME is supported by all mobile phone manufacturers increasingly, it needs lower configuration of mobile device, has more powerful network protocols, and so on. Because of these advantages, J2ME become preferred platform increasingly in mobile developing.The difficulty in system integration always decides the selection using platform. Both Lotus Domino/Notes and J2ME have unassailable ability to system integration, besides their respective advantage. Through IBM Corporation developed many external interface toolkits, Domino had already turn to the opening system supporting Java, C/C++ program language, Java local transfer Domino, CORBA, XML, and so on, from a more professional and confined traditional system; moreover, J2ME framework support more network protocols.Based on the analysis above, this paper regards Chengdu Railway Bureau OA System as a background, develops Domino OA System based on J2ME mobile terminal. Aiming at function demand of all modules, the paper designs overall framework and database structure, and describes the program implement of representative modules on Domino server and J2ME mobile client. In the end, the paper analyse principles and methods of some key technologies detailedly.In conclusion, the Domino OA System of Chengdu Railway Bureau, based on J2ME mobile terminal, make the best of the portability of mobile phone and increasing powerful function, the J2ME terminal can communicate with OA system anytime, so it can solve some problems, such as missing archives when leaving office, has impending significance in reality and wide developing space. But there are some difficulties and deficiencies on the aspects of technology and application between Domino and J2ME, so the Domino OA System of Chengdu Railway Bureau, based on J2ME mobile terminal, is only beneficial supplement of Notes client OA system.
