IEEE 802.16 Wireless Metropolitan Networks is a BWA technology, this technology is considered to be an important complement to the 3G technologies and expected to be very potential in future market share. For the use of research and development, there needs to be a development platform designed on the basis of IEEE 802.16 protocol. This thesis proposes a kind of scheme according to the IEEE 802.16 protocol with the contents as follows: the design of randomizer, RS encoder, CC encoder, multi-rate adapter and interleaver, also , the design of modulation module that backs up the link adaptation techniques is included; as for the MAC design, it mainly includes the IP classifier, the generation of MAC SDUs and PDUs, CID assignment and construction of MAP message. On the basis of the IEEE 802.16 PHY simulation, a link adaptation algorithm based on gliding window is proposed, and yet the bandwidth request and allocation algorithms are also proposed with the reference to the BE data services. Finally, the preliminary construction of the development platform is yielded.
