With the advantages of low cost, convenient operation and easy to management etc, Application Service Provide (ASP) mode has been more and more paid attention to Small and Middle Enterprises(SMEs). Meanwhile, the CAD/CAE/CAM technique, as the powerful tool for the manufacturing industry keeping its competition ability, has played an important part to shorten the product design time, improve the product quality and reduce the cost. Based on the concept of ASP and the advantage of CAD/CAE/CAM technology, a multi-platform Dynamic Virtual Part Library was developed on the platforms of Solid Works(SW) and Solid Edge(SE) in this paper by integrating ASP.NET and web database. The main points of the paper are described as follows.1. The system configuration was researched. By adopting the B/S network configuration mode, the network frame and system frame were established, and several functional modules of the system were divided. After the analysis of the interface relations between the system modules, the resolution of the system integration was obtained.2. Based on group-table and database technique, the establishing and management of standard part library was studied and the application of the standard part library was realized under the network environment. Then the building method for the general part library was analyzed and the best building method was selected. The relative techniques were analyzed for establishing and maintaining the part library by using of database.3. The major methods to develop the graphics agent program by using of VB and ActiveX Automation technique were analyzed. By combining the interface objects of SW and SE, a program was written for graphics agent program to call the graphics software according to the user's choice (SW or SE).4. The communication between the server and graphics agent program was realized by using of the database technique. The steady running of the system could be insured and the information statistics in the system running could be obtained.The establishment of the Dynamic Virtual Part Library could be helpful for SMEs to improve the efficiency and to decrease the develop cost of the products. It could also support the design, manufacture and cooperation between the enterprises on web. Furthermore, it would be helpful to resource sharing between industry and district, complementing advantages each other and improving the promptitude as well as the and ability of market-responding for SMEs. As a result, the competition for an industry as total would be enhanced.
