Following the fast development of information technology, human beings'needs for Information become more and more various. Comparing with traditional information treatment, the most different is multi-media information processing, especially huge data of visual information, so it needs larger and faster data processing equipment. Accompanying with the quick development of computers technology, image processing technology has been used on many fields. Its superiority can deal with a large number of information fast and reflect two-dimensional information directly.The employment of real-time image processing technology is multi-respects, it's no exaggeration saying, where there is the usage of image processing technology, there is real-time image processing technology, the most critical reason is real-time image processing technology can improve velocity of image processing. Modern yield and science study improve needs of image capture system. Traditional image cards are low in velocity, simple on functions of processing and awkward with capacity, it can not content with special needs, so in here, the author sets up faster and smaller image capture system mainly including image acquisition module (CMOS camera) and image processing module (DM642). The author employs the newest image processing chips DM642 of TI corporation to structure this image acquisition system. The paper designs a smallest real-time image acquisition system using TMS320DM642 for its core processing and extends functions and flexibility, also introduces hardware structure and work principle of DM642 digital image acquisition system and the system functions setting on CMOS camera. The system of the paper introduction can satisfy on usage needs of many visual or image processing and transition fields such as image detection, image compression processing, far-way monitor, visual machines, conference television, traffic management and so on.
