AVS (Audio Video coding standard) is a high quality Video and Audio coding standard developed by Chinese experts independently. The third part of AVS is audio part, which has advantage of high compression ratio and high audio quality. The audio codec supports the scalable audio coding and is applied in mass information industries such as digital broadcasting of high resolution, intense laser digital storage media, wireless wideband multimedia communication and wideband stream media on internet and so on.With the widely use of embedded system in the area of application electronics, ARM possesses a large share in consume electronic market because of its powerful function, for example, ARM is used as a CPU in intelligent mobiles nowadays. A solution for AVS-P3 audio decoder implement in ARM9 is proposed in this paper.The characteristic of AVS-P3 audio codec and the standards of codec are first introduced in the paper, and the structure of AVS-P3 decoder is expounded after comparing the AVS-P3 with AAC-LC decoder. Then the paper goes deep in analyzing the algorithms which are adopted in the decoder. Meanwhile, the decoding speed and cost memory are optimized based on ARM9. After the optimization, the decoder can decode the avs bitstream rapidly on ARM9. This paper has a comprehensive research on the scalable audio coding of AVS-P3 particularly, and proposes measures to improve the scalable audio coding so that it can make the quality of audio codec better and more adapted to Ultra Low Bitrate audio codec.Finally, the cost time of decoding based on ARM9 is tested , the audio quality after optimized is tested and evaluated in the way of CMOS(Compare Mean Opinion Score ). The result after decoding is tested objectively through MATLAB. The results is shown that without damaging the quality of the music, the decoding speed is 10 times faster than the original decoder and the memory size is reduced to half.
