With Beijing Olympic Games' approaching, how to communicate it better becomes a hot topic. As the top sports event in the world, whether the influence of Olympic Games will be realized depends on media's communication. TV is considered to be the most influential and attractive media in the world, whether it could communicate successfully directly determines whether our country can achieve the original intention of holding this Olympic Game.This paper studies the communication of Olympic Games as the representative of the communication of sports events for the first time. After defining the intention and extension of sports events renewably, I summarize vertically the development of TV sports events communication both abroad and at home, and then make comparison on communication status quo and characteristics of some TV sports events. In this research, we will find that the culture differences between China and the western countries lead to the differences on doctrine and practice of sports events communication. At last, I work out some suggestion for the TV communication strategy of Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 by analyzing deeply the communication effect of reporting of CCTV in the Athens Olympic Games.
