The development of modern information technology poses more and more challenge to the development of the Macroseismic Viewer, of which the signals have the features of long duration, high real-time requirement and wide range of dynamic magnitude. Aiming to fulfill the requirements listed above, this paper proposes and develops an ARM7-based data acquisition module which can not only work as a USB host to store the data from the Macroseismic Viewer, but also transmitting the data remotely through a MODEM.The FAT32 and the flash disk are applied to be the data format and media for local data storage. This paper demonstrates in detail the hardware circuit and firmware by which to implement the USB-host in the embedded data manipulation module. The hardware platform consists mainly of the USB interface chip SL811HS and the ARM7 MCU which controls the interface chip. The firmware focuses on driving and controlling the USB device and supporting FAT32 data format without the support of operating system. As for the remote data transmission, this paper demonstrates the method of transmitting remote data through the smart modem, especially the communication principle, interface specification, the implementation of XMODEM protocol, and the firmware. In addition, this paper also construct a data collecting module based on a delta-sigma AD converter, which acts as the data source of SPI bus, to verify the data manipulation module's capability to support external data source.Finally this paper gives a demonstration of the whole process from the acquisition, storage to the transmission of data. Experiment results show that the embedded data manipulating module has full function, good stability and user conveniency, and is expected to become a kind of general module of automated equipment.
