Protocol is the soul of the network. In recent years,the networks are developed rapidy and offer many applications. The scope scope of network is more bigger and structure is more complex. Thus makes the network more important. The purpose of the protocol project is to release the default during the protocol exploitation, develop the efficiency of the protocol exploitation, to promote the protocol's development. The protocol testing is not only a simple supporting process during the protocol implement, but also an important branch of network communication and an important part of protocol engineering. The technique of protocol testing directly effects the development of the network technology and equipment market.Smoke testing is a series test the development of the network technology and equipment market, before Standard testing .The purpose of the testing is to insure new program can run stably. Moreover,it can develop the visualization of the exploitation process,shorten the exploitation period,depress the risk of system integration and the inferior producis. Today ,there are many reseaches on Smoke testing,e.g,iterative exploitation , Extreme Programming, and Unified Process etc. All of these models of exploitation are increment. The Smoke testing is a effective activity of practice in those process.The emphases of this paper is apply smoke testing to protocol practice. According to this problem ,this paper accomplishes the follows work:To discuss on the protocol project and protocol testing ,the emphases is the theory and method on protocol conformance testing.To research the software process and smoke testing . the emphases is the organization and implement on protocol testing .To analyse the protocol of policy routing, the emphases is to create the test case about policy routing.This paper designed a protocol testing system which is easily extended based on Tcl.
