In the final analysis, corporations'competition is the competition for talented persons, while the outstanding talented persons have their origin in prominent training. Therefore, the significance to the training has increasingly been attached by the corporations, and meanwhile the roles that the training plays are getting more and more important. The mature foundation construction of the oil field's computer networks and the improvement of the staff's computer level provide full conditions for the setting up of the oil field's new training mode.The traditional training mode has many advantages such as to make live communication more convenient, to improve the learners mutually, etc. as well as many disadvantages such as trainees'shortage, the limited training time and places, and high personal average cost, etc..The Staff Training System (STS) spans a teaching platform on line to make employees take up long-distance study at any time. This system has the maximum opening making every functional department and branch unit produce, upload and share the training materials where employees can study all the information and course. Besides, the registered learners can not just communicate on line and test, but can timely find the study materials in need with the increasingly abundant training materials.STS is designed according to the traditional training procedure and functional demand and consists of"study on line"and"training management"."Study on line"enables the trainees'study and communication, while"training management"provides the series of function from program designing to the eventual training effect analysis. STS is based on the database of the Human Resources of the Oil Field, adopting the labor number as the user name and the administrator. It guarantees both criterion and authority of the systematic management. System administrators have the right to distribute the users, set up classes, manage course wares and test questions, appraise grades and so on. Moreover, secondary administrators share the same right limited to their own units. The trainers hold the right to develop the questions'pools, organize the test papers, disabuse on line, etc. The class setting directly chooses the course wares in hand. The administrators register trainees, and the system automatically records the login times, the time on line, test results on line, writing examination results, and compose the grade of each subject pro rata. The trainees'individual information graphs, attendance tables, school report cards, and training effect analysis tables can be automatically created after the end of the training. To guarantee the safety of the system and data, STS strictly regulates users'rights and obligations at all levels, that is, nobody has the right to administrate the course wares and papers except the administrator. The trainer's proposition and making up of the papers are isolated to ensure the justice of the test.When STS was finished, it was tested by computer professionals and training administrators. Eventually, it basically reached all the prospective goals by developing test simulating classes, inner simulating classes and outer simulating ones. Also, a large quantity of advice and suggestions were collected. Nowadays, the running of STS has been fulfilled by the Oil Field.
