As an important instrument to record data,recorder has been applied in various kinds of industrial fields.Many communication interfaces are used in recorder instrument. Computer-Output Microfilm(COM), Enhanced Parallel Port(EPP) and floppy disk are used if instruments are scattered,or else,local network bus instead. Universal Serial Bus has promoted the development of communication technology with its convenience when used,which also accelerates the progress of recorder.The present thesis expatiates the research and development of recorder based on embedded USB Host.Traditional management system of USB Host on PC are introduced in embedded instruments or devices, which makes convenience of data transport of these devices and instruments.The hardware of present USB Host system can support any device with USB-2.0 or lower version,also,the software can support devices of Mass Storage Classjust like Flash Disk.Removable harddisk will be supported if one part of present drivers is enriched.This is thesis starts with the features of USB technology in comparison with other bus classes,and then discuss the project of hardware and software. Seven chapters are included in present thesis.In chapter one,the scheme of Recorder base on Embedded USB Host is put forward with the discussion of present project;In chapter two,the features of USB protocol and embedded microprocessor (ARM) are described,especially the communication mode of USB Host and USB slave device, which are the theories the development based on.Within chapter three ~ chapter six, the progress of research and development of present project is discussed,which includes the R&D of hardware and software.Two chief parts of software system are:the configuration and boot-loader of ARM system,the communication theory of Mass Storage Class device and the implement within present embedded system.The innovation in this thesis is: traditional management system of USB Host on PC are minimized and introduced in embedded instruments or devices,not the normal R&D of USB slave device.This design exploits a new data transport method between normal slave device and PC.Flash disk is applied in the transport between Recorder devices both with present USB host system,which reduces the discommodiousness of dependence on PC.
