Research On Simulation Of Ad Hoc Tactical Network

Ad Hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile nodes dynamically forming a temporary network without use of any existing network infrastructure or centralized administration, and the mobile nodes in the Ad Hoc network communicate with each other using multi-hops wireless links. As a new wireless communication technology, it is because it has such characters as without using any infrastructure, being able to be set rapidly up and powerful ant-destructibility, that the digital war field always firstly selects it as its communication network. Without question, Ad Hoc network has very important application value in military communication. At present, many countries have widely used Ad Hoc technology in military communication. But PLA doesn't use this new technology because the research in our country is still at a beginning level and there exists some questions that are not solved. This thesis builds an Ad Hoc Tactical Network (Ad Hoc TN) model using OPNET and does some simulation study. The aim of this thesis is to study the main factors affecting the performance of Ad Hoc TN, to provide technological assistance for the construction of our military network and the estimate of the performance, as well as to ensure stable running of Ad Hoc TN under the environment of digital war field to perform invincible arm.On the base of introducing the general knowledge and main technology of the Ad Hoc network and Ad Hoc TN, comparing and analyzing the current computer network simulation software, and exploring the wireless modeling principle about OPNET, an Ad Hoc TN model is set up in OPNET. The construction of the model follows strictly 3-layer modeling mechanism of OPNET. A network model defines the overall scope of a system to be simulated. A node model is composed of a series of connected blocks called modules, which is in accordance with the actual network equipment. Process model is used to specify the behavior of processor and queue modules which exist in the Node Model. The node model contains high layer, network layer, data link layer and physical layer, resembling the TCP/IP architecture.After constructing the model of Ad Hoc TN, a series of experiment based on the company or platoon tactical network are put forward.
