Based on the review of contemporary researches on Knowledge Visualization both in domestic and abroad and with a view to meet the learning needs of knowledge age, the paper introduces the basic theories of knowledge visualization, describes various types of knowledge visualization and examples of their learning application, and proposes a theoretical and practical framework of knowledge visualization as a learning tool. Finally, a series of applying strategies are provided on the basis of a case study and analysis. The paper is divided into 5 chapters:Chapter 1: Introduction. In this chapter, based on analyzing the characteristics of knowledge age and the influences of information technology and relevant theories on learning and learning tools, the paper argues that knowledge visualization is an effective tool for transforming learning style and enhancing learning efficiency.Chapter 2: Knowledge and Learning Tools. This chapter analyzes and summarizes the definition, characteristics and functions of the learning tool through discussing the multi-viewpoints of knowledge, classifications of knowledge, characteristics of knowledge and knowledge representation.Chapter 3: A Review of Knowledge Visualization. After describing the origins and discipline background of knowledge visualization with the concept of knowledge visualization as central focus, this chapter expounds the meaning of knowledge visualization and discusses advantages and functions of knowledge visualization as learning tool based on the analyses of the essence, purpose, form and applying domain of knowledge visualization.Chapter 4: A Theoretical and Applying Framework for Classifying Knowledge Visualization. This chapter constructs a theoretical framework for classifying knowledge visualization, describes a practical framework for classifying knowledge visualization as a learning tool based on Bloom's Taxonomy (2001).Chapter 5: A Case Study and Strategies for Applying Knowledge Visualization. After analyzing the data from a case study, this chapter advances strategies for applying knowledge visualization as a learning tool on the bases of the theoretical and practical framework for classifying knowledge visualization.
