Mobile communication network and Internet have been developing very rapidly, by which the human daily life was changed deeply, since the 1990s. Except the mobile voice service, people also want to get data and multimedia service through mobile communication networks. All of these lead to the combination of Internet and the wireless communication system. Having both the character of broadband and mobility, Broadband Wireless Access Technology satisfy the increasing demand of high speed data service just like audio and video in the mobile environment. Because of having the capability of anti Inter-Symbol interference and multi-path fading, OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technology is very promising to be the core technology of Broadband Wireless Access and next generation mobile communication systems.In this thesis, Error-Correction Coding technology of Broadband Wireless Access System based on OFDM and it's possible improvement solution is researched. We first discuss the basic theory of OFDM, and analyze why OFDM can effectively resolve the FSF and ISI, and how to realize the DFT-based OFDM system. Base on the mode of WLAN wireless channel environment, the performance of convolutional encoding and its Viterbi Hard-decision and soft-decision decoding algorithm is analysed and compared. Then IEEE802.11a system is simulated using different coding and modulation scheme. And then basic theory of TCM(Trellis-Coded Modulation) is introduced.
