With the fast expansion of service robot market, some developed countries such as Japan, American and the South Korea are taking the industrilzation of service robot as the next potential and enormous consumption market. Some international large corporations are playing an active role in the development of service robot. It is very critical of home security robot researching to fulfill low cost, low dissipation, small volume, high reliability and high intelligence, for the robot is familiy-oriented.We utilize 32-bit embedded ARM processor as the contrlliong core of the embedded system. It has characteristics of high performace, plentiful interfaces and convenient transplantation and extension. And also we adopt embedded technology as the platform of the robot owing to its high real-time ability, high reliability and rich resourses. Thus the application of robot technology becomes the seconday development on the embedded platform so that the developing period is cut down and resource is saved.The embedded system in the paper is based on 32-bit ARM S3C44B0X produced by Samsung Corporaration. The storage circuit are designed and also the peripheral circuits of liquid crystal touch screen, wireless telecontrolling modul, motor control and RS232 interface. The design and debugging of hardware are done. The Bootloader program and drivig program are also fulfilled.The system possesses the ability to handle multi-task via the transplantation of embedded real-time operation system. Making full advantage of embedded real-time operation system realizes the communication of muiti-task and the reasonable utility of hardware system and solves the problem of program developing and maintaining with the system getting bigger and bigger.μC/GUI embedded graphics interface is also transplanted on the foundation ofμC/OS-II operation system to deveop touchable interaction window for the robot. Due to its simplicity, good-loking, convenience and humanlization, it is vey easy for customers to interact with the robot, to lower cost and to shorten the distance between man and machine.At last the platform of home security robot is constructed.
