This paper used UML method and XML technology in the overall design of the electronic medical chart system, including the network topological structure ,system functional modules and the database table structure and so on. the development model, the software platform and the implementation method the system used are also introduced in this paper. it solved the problem of the data format transition from database to XML document, developed a semi-structured input module to solve the dilemma: doctors are unfamiliar with the structured date input and totally random data input is hard to handle. it also improved the retrieval algorithm to fast the search speed and imported the design method of knowledge-support system to endow our system with the function of assistant diagnoses. In the end, this paper analysed one of the most important part: security system in detail. all the main technology used in the system r all particularly explained in this paper.This system brings a set of scientific and effective manage methods to the hospital electronic medical chart system. as a natural science foundation project of Jiangsu science & technology department, it focus on its practical use on the one hand, on the other hand, it also have in-depth research on its theoretical issue. this paper introduces and put into use the latest knowledge and technology on the electronic medical chart from china and abroad into our system.
