With the fast development of computer technology, quite great progress has been achieved in mould CAD technique and a lot of famous general CAD software has been developed. While in order to satisfy the needs of developing specified products in special industry, some special functions need to be added in general CAD software. That is the second development of software, which can enhance the efficiency and quality of product design. As an important branch of artificial intelligence technology, expert system has become the main method to solve complex problems in engineering. Combining traditional mould CAD technique with expert system, second development of CAD software can greatly improve the efficiency and quality of mould, shorten the development cycle and reduce the cost of mould. In this paper, mould CAD technique is studied, artificial intelligence technique is introduced and expert system design method is used. With object-oriented technique, database technique, fuzzy theory and computer image technique, second development of AutoCAD 2002 is carried on and a common injection molding runner system based on intelligent object and fuzzy reasoning is designed and implemented.Firstly, the research status quo and direction of development of injection molding CAD is discussed. The development trend and research status of expert system is presented. Secondly, the paper analyzes the rules that need to be obsearved in the second development of CAD software and decides the software development environment of this expert system. Thirdly, basic design theory of common injection molding runner system is described. The expert experiences in the process of design are abtained and sumrized. Fouthly, aiming at fuzzy knowledge in common injection molding runner system design, an information processing model based on fuzzy theory is founded, which can realize intelligent reasoning in common injection molding runner system design. Fifthly, through analyzing and studying the features of common injection molding runner system design, the scheme of expert system is given and system model is established. The composition structure and working principles are explained. The software implementation method of system is given. In the end, with the technology of computer-human interaction, a direct, friendly and easy-operating user's menu is developed, which makes the system integrate seamlessly on the AutoCAD platform and constitutes an organic body in which every part contacts and depends on each other.
