Video monitoring technology is extensively applied in the fields such as industry, agriculture production, military and medical science, etc. The traditional video monitor system consists of CCD image sensor, video card and computer. Generally it has integrated functions, but its bulk is large and the price is high. With the development and application of embedded system, video monitoring becomes miniature, intelligent and networked gradually. The embedded video monitor system is a special circuit system consisted of miniature image sensor, image processor, MCU and storage chip, etc. Compared with traditional video monitor system, the embedded video monitor system has small bulk, strong functions, convenient interface and etc. It can be extensively used as an intelligent component in sensor network, large monitor system and etc. As so far, although the image process of embedded vedio monitor is not so complete, but with the development of MCU's performance and the appearance of special image process chip, the performance of embedded video monitor system is improved gradually. It will take place of the traditional video monitor system in the future.As so far, there are tow kinds of image sensors: Charge Couple Device (CCD) and Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS). The former has higher distinguishability, is mainly used in the fields has high requirement in distinguishability, such as scanner, digital camera, digital vedicon and so on. The latter has low power consume and low price, is mainly used in the fields that the requirement of distinguishability is not so high, such as mobile phone, some kinds of handsets those have camera, and some video monitor system that has low requirement of distinguishability. With the development of semiconductor manufacturing, the distinguishability of CMOS image sensor now can achieve 2 millions pixels above, and is growing all the same. It has the tendency to take place of CCD image sensor that is expensive.The paper studies a solution to design and implement an embedded image monitor system that uses CMOS image sensor with low price. This image monitor system can perform image gathering, image compress/decompress, image storage, and moving object detection. The system can be implemented in one circuit board because of its small bulk. It can be used as an independent monitor device. Except for that, it also can be used as an intelligent component in some other application system, such as large network system of security monitor and the visual system of intelligent robot,The process of depiction in this paper:...
