With the development of networked manufacture, collaborative design is required for the CAPP system. To realize the collaborative browse of the design information over the distributed environment is fundamental. And another problem following the collaborative browse of the design information is how to directly view the assembly process of the 3D model over the Web. In the assembly process planning, utilizing the assembly model and assembly process to simulate the assembling can be used to validate the feasibility of assembly process.VRML file is used to express the CAD model and XML file to store the assembly layer information and assembly process. A system frame based on B/S is proposed to realize the browse of 3D model and assembly process in distributed environment. The main research contents of this thesis are as follows:Firstly, translating the CAD model to VRML file and utilizing the Java3D and Applet technologies to browse and operate the 3D geometry model based on the Web. Secondly, utilizing XML file to express the assembly layer information and transmitting the file over the network to realize the integration of CAD and CAPP system.Thirdly, the information of assembly list of the 2D drawing is recognized and transported to XML file, which could be easy to be integrated with the CAPP system. And the visualization of 2D drawing based on the Web is realized.Finally, the assembly process expressed by XML file is reasoned in the CAD system. Through the network transporting of the XML file, the assembly process can be browsed on the Web and the 3D model can be viewed according to the assembly list. Also a solution with Java3D is discussed to solve the problem of collision in assembly processs.
