PHS, called as local wireless telephone formally, is a personal access systembased on PSTN and used Micro-cell technique. It has been quickly spread all overthe country since its firstly use in Yuhang of Zhejiang Province in 1998. Untill now355 cities have PHS system. The total consumers has breakthrough 80 million bothChina Telecoms and China Netcom, and PHS has drawn the main drive force offirm net increase.Shenyang PHS system was built in January 2003, and open to the public in Jun6, now there are one million consumers. Since PHS' building cycle iscomparatively briefer, during earlier periods of the network planning, configurationand choosing place of cell. Because of deviation on the overlay area traffic servicedistributes and the mould composition evaluation, causing that cell overlay radiusin different areas are fully unrightful and cell distribution and the sort in differentlittle district is not fit against the actual demand. With the rapid growth of users, thesystem's performance turns worse and worse. To solve this problem, adding moreCS or RP is a usual method before, which can't adapt to the requirements of PHSsystem now. A full-scale optimization is needed to improve the system.The maintenance of PHS network is different from that of wired network. It isnot only a simple equipment maintenance, but also it emphasize a viewpoint of thesituation as a whole, merely considering network optimization on the point of thewhole network, finally we can find out the source which influences networkperformance. According to the above demand, in Chapter 3, we come to aconclusion that the total process of PHS network optimization, moreover accordingto the process, the paper divide the whole network optimization into three parts,network performance assessment, network performance analysi and networkoptimization implementation. The first stage is the network assessment which canconfirm the network performance rank, which is to describe network operation'performance. The second stage is network analysis which can find out reasonseffecting network performance by means of various methods,which is to find whythe network performance is. The third stage is optimization implementation whichcan reach the final optimization goal on the basis of the second stage,which is howto improve network performance. On the basis of each stage' goal and feature, weconclude concrete analysis thinking and method. Finally in the networkoptimization implementation phase, it detailedly elaborates how to optimizeschemes and various reasons influencing PHS wireless network performance. Sothe total process of network optimization is useful to the further networkoptimization and it offers theory and experience reference.Considering the need of the work, this paper selects to optimize the network ofShenhe District, Shenyang city. According to the total process of PHS networkoptimization summed up in Chapter 3. Firstly, this paper finds out the mainproblem of the current network by analyzing the capability of Shenhe District,Shenyang city PHS system, that is, the channel block by high traffic and theself-interference of the system. Secondly, this paper provides the three-termoptimization project to solve the problem, which has already been used in theoptimization of practical network. Thirdly, this paper compares the networkperformance between the pre-optimization system and the after-optimizationsystem. The analysis and evaluation results show that the performance of thewireless network has been improved a lot by the optimization, so that the networkcould meet the standard of excellent network.In conclusion, in Chapter 7 of this paper, through this optimization has makeShenhe District, Shenyang city' PHS wireless network performance a greatprogress. But the main problem of the network now is the serious self interference,and interior cover (especially many entertainment sites) is still not ideal, so thispaper proposes several advices for further PHS network optimization. Though theresearch, we've mastered the basic idea and practical technique of the PHS wirelessnetwork optimization and made good preparation for the further optimization of thecounty network.
